PORTLAND, Ore.– Portland Thorns FC forward Christine Sinclair was named the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) Player of the Month for June, it was announced today.

Sinclair, 33, helped Thorns FC post a record of 3-0-1 during the month of June, tallying three goals and one assist in four matches. The Canada Women’s National Team captain scored in three consecutive matches (June 12-22) and recorded a point in all four matches, registering an assist against the Orlando Pride on June 26.

Playing on the road against the Chicago Red Stars on June 12, Sinclair scored her first goal of the 2016 campaign in a 1-1 draw. Continuing her strong run of form, Sinclair scored the game-winning goal against the Western New York Flash on June 17 and in Portland’s home match against Chicago on June 22. Sinclair closed out the month, tallying the game-tying assist in a come-from-behind win on the road over Orlando on June 26.

It marks the second time Sinclair has been named Player of the Month, as she received the league’s first-ever Player of the Month award in April 2013. In addition, Sinclair is the second Thorns FC player to be recognized as the Player of the Month this season, joining midfielder Tobin Heath, who was the Player of the Month for April.

The NWSL Player of the Month is selected each month of the regular season by the NWSL Media Association, a collection of media that cover the league on a consistent basis. For more information on the NWSL Media Association, follow them on Twitter.

Thorns FC square off against Sky Blue FC on Saturday, July 2, at Providence Park; kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. (Pacific) with a live web stream at www.thornsfc.com.
