Start Making a Reader Today
Start Making a Reader Today envisions an Oregon where every child can read and is empowered to succeed. Volunteers read one-on-one with students weekly during the school year, modeling a love of reading and building children’s reading skills and self-confidence in a positive, child-driven environment. Stand Together recognizes that the third grade reading level is a key indicator of a child's future educational success and has sponsored the SMART program at Astor School, James John Elementary School and Peninsula Elementary School.
