Timbers2 fell, 3-1, to The Town FC on Friday at Providence Park. Midfielder Kyle Linhares scored his first pro goal for T2 in the loss.

PORTLAND, Ore. – In their regular season, home opener, Timbers2 were defeated, 3-1, by The Town FC at Providence Park on Friday night. Kyle Linhares scored T2’s lone goal of the match and their first of the 2024 MLS NEXT Pro campaign. Notably, it marked Linhares’s first professional goal.

One of the bright spots on the night was the return to the field by midfielder Alex Moreno following an ACL injury. Moreno was one of three Timbers Academy players to sign their first pro contract with T2 in the offseason.

TTFC – Aaron Edwards, 5th minute: Aaron Edwards ran the ball down the right sideline and into the box before placing a shot into the far corner of net with his right foot.

TTFC – Eduardo Blancas, 50th minute: TTFC won a free kick just outside of the 18-yard box on the right side of the field. Eduardo Blancas stepped up and bent the ball around the wall and inside of the post.

TTFC – Joel Garcia, 58th minute: The Town served a cross towards the middle of the six-yard box and T2 goalkeeper Carver Miller deflected the ball away, but TTFC player Joel Garcia finished the loose ball into the back of the net.

POR – Kyle Linhares (Mataeo Bunbury), 77th minute: Mataeo Bunbury dribbled the ball across the top of the box and laid it of for Kyle Linhares, who took a touch inside and arched a shot into the top right corner of the goal.
