Quick Strikes by Simple | Portland Timbers vs. Seattle Sounders - June 28, 2015

After collecting 12 points in the last five league matches, the Portland Timbers will take on the Seattle Sounders for the second time in two weeks as the rivals will meet for the 91st time this Sunday (4 pm PT, FOX SPORTS 1). Here are five numbers to know for #PORvSEA in the latest Quick Strikes by Simple.

2.14 Since the Timbers MLS debut in 2011, the two Cascadian rivals have played seven times in all competitions in Portland. During those matches, Portland has scored 15 goals giving the Rose City club an average of 2.14 goals per match when hosting Seattle.

12 Midfielder Darlington Nagbe and defender Nat Borchers have squared off against the Sounders in 12 regular season matches since the beginning of the 2011 season. No player in the league has faced Seattle more times than the the 12 by the two Timbers players.

10 Portland is looking to bounce back from its midweek defeat, which is something the club has had success with since the 2013 season. In the 19 MLS matches immediately following a regular season loss in that span, the Timbers have 10 wins and six draws.

3 After each scoring a goal against Seattle in the U.S. Open Cup on June 16, Rodney Wallace and Diego Valeri have each scored three times against the Sounders in all competitions, which is tied for the most in the MLS era of the Timbers. Only Byron Alvarez, Hugo Alcaraz-Cuellar and Clyde Best have more Portland goals against Seattle across all eras of the club.

700+ Only seven midfielders this season have completed 700 or more passes and Sunday in Portland could feature two of those seven players. Both Diego Chara and Seattle's Gonzalo Pineda are near the top of the list for succesful passes in 2015. Since Chara's debut in 2011 for Portland, only five players have completed more passes than the Colombian.
