PORTLAND, Ore. – Portland Thorns FC midfielder Andressinha (Brazil), defender Ellie Carpenter (Australia) and forwards Caitlin Foord (Australia) and Hayley Raso (Australia) have been named to rosters by their respective national teams for the Tournament of Nations, spanning July 26-Aug. 2.
Andressinha, Carpenter, Foord and Raso will depart and join their national teams after tonight’s match against Sky Blue FC, and will rejoin the team ahead of its next game, a road match against the North Carolina Courage on Sunday, Aug. 5.
Australia and Brazil square off in the first game of the tournament on July 26 at Children’s Mercy Park in Kansas City, Kan.; kickoff is set for 1:15 p.m. (Pacific). Brazil then takes on Japan on July 29 at Pratt & Whitney Stadium at Rentschler Field in East Hartford, Conn. at 1:15 p.m. (Pacific), while Australia plays the United States at 4 p.m. (Pacific). The tournament wraps up in Bridgeview, Ill., at Toyota Park on Aug. 2. Australia closes out the tournament against Japan at 2:45 p.m. (Pacific) and Brazil concludes play with a match against the United States at 5:30 p.m. (Pacific). All games featuring the United States will be broadcast live on FS1.
