2016 MLS Team of the Week (Wk 25): Valeri, Adi and Chara lead Timbers in rout of Seattle

In a big rivalry matchup, Portland Timbers players came through.


The Timbers scored four first half goals Sunday afternoon as they went on to beat Seattle Sounders FC 4-2 at a raucous Providence Park. The win also kept the Timbers atop the Cascadia Cup standings on nine points in the three-team race between Portland, Seattle and Vancouver Whitecaps FC for the supporter awarded trophy.


Helping lead the way in the win was midfielder Diego Valeri who had two assists in the game to push his team-lead to seven and earn himself a spot on the MLS Week 25 Team of the Week. Joining him on the TOTW bench, teammate Diego Chara's effort in midfield (one assist, 97.78 percent passing accuracy) and Fanendo Adi (team-leading 13th goal) also received recognition.
