2017 Stand Together Week Day 1 & 2 | #STWeek projects begin across Portland

The 2017 edition of Stand Together Week has officially commenced, as players from the Portland Timbers, Thorns FC and T2 worked alongside club staff, fans and volunteers around the city.



Sunday’s projects featured Timbers’ Gbenga Arokoyo working in the garden with IRCO Gilbert Park SUN School and community ambassador Jack Jewsbury and Timber Joey helped clean books at The Children’s Book Bank. Jewsbury also joined volunteers from Hampton Lumber to work on their green thumb at Timber Jim’s Garden in the Tualatin Schoolhouse Food Pantry.


On Monday, volunteers from New Relic and Daimler will join owner Merritt Paulson, Timbers' Jack Barmby, T2 head coach Andrew Gregor and players Wade Hamilton, Shaquille Jimenez and Omar Mohamed to assist SOLVE remove non-native invasive plants from Mary S. Young Park. Additionally, Sebastián Blancoand his family, Thorns’ Britt Eckerstrom, and T2’s Christian HerreraAndre Lewis, and Terrell Lowe will lend a hand with New Relic volunteers at Virginia Garcia Memorial Health Center in a gardening and decorating party. Adidas employees will be at Active Children Portland with the Timbers’ Ben Zemanski, Thorns’ Mallory Weber and Mana Shim playing games and soccer with kids. Over at 4 Worlds United, more soccer will be had as Timbers head coach Caleb Porter alongside Timbers’ Jake Gleeson and Thorns’ Kendall Johnsonwill join volunteers from adidas as well. Finally, some gardening and beautification projects will be underway at Hartley Elementary School with the Timbers’ Roy Miller, Thorns FC’s Adrianna Franch, T2’s Villyan Bijev and Dylan Damraoui, as well as volunteers from Alaska Air and Providence Health and Services.

The Timbers Soccer Celebration will be at Portland’s Pioneer Courthouse Square this June.! With supporting partners adidas and McDonald’s, the Soccer Celebration will feature interactive activities, local food carts, merchandise stands, fan giveaways as well as live viewings of select FIFA World Cup 26™ matches, all taking place in “Portland’s living room” from June 12-June 15.
