Blue skies and sunshine greeted the KeyBank Little Timbers Fan Club (LTFC) Saturday during their behind the scenes tour of JELD-WEN Field and a question and answer session with players Joe Bendik and Eric Alexander.
Over 150 KeyBank LTFC members and their guests met at JELD-WEN Field to learn about its history and more about the Portland Timbers franchise from JELD-WEN Field tour guides. The tour visited stadium landmarks including the “Face of the Crowd” statues on 18th and Morrison, the We Are Timbers and Axe Society displays, the Sunset Porsche Audi Suites, a locker room and the field itself. The tour also stopped in the stands where members pointed out their favorite seats around the stadium.
Everyone returned to the KeyBank Club section to hear goalkeeper Joe Bendik and midfielder Eric Alexander answer questions that they were able to submit to the players when they arrived at the event. Bendik recounted his first minutes in a Timbers match against Montreal, and agreed with Alexander that JELD-WEN Field is their favorite venue they’ve played in.
“If you’ve come to a game before, you know why,” said Alexander. “It’s because of you guys and the other 20,000 fans here on game days.”
“Without a doubt, JELD-WEN Field is the best. We’ve seen other stadiums in MLS. What we’ve got here is something that everyone should experience,” said Bendik.
KeyBank LTFC is for children 12 and under and offers exclusive events and opportunities to members, such as Reserves Team season tickets, stadium tours and Q&A sessions with players. To learn more and to sign up for KeyBank LTFC, click here.
