The Portland Timbers powered through for a 2-1 win over Houston Dynamo FC on the strength of a Santiago Moreno brace and a strong defense who held on for the win despite being down to 10 men for the final 15 minutes. Here are three numbers to take away from the match.
With his two goals tonight, midfielder Santiago Moreno scored his first career brace. In the MLS era, Portland has tallied 52 braces with four coming in 2022: Moreno, Jaroslaw Niezgoda, Sebastián Blanco and Nathan Fogaça. Since entering the league in 2011, the Timbers have yet to have a hat trick in MLS play.
Felipe Mora, who subbed on in the 61st minute, made his 50th regular season appearance for the Timbers since joining the team in 2020.
