PORTLAND, Ore. — Portland Thorns FC returned to action on Wednesday result, though to a rare, second consecutive loss. Despite fighting back from an early two-goal deficit, Portland fell to the Houston Dash, 3-2, at Providence Park

The Dash went up early through a Rachel Daly penalty-kick goal and doubled their lead through Kristie Mewis, but a first-half response from Christine Sinclair and a second-half equalizer from Sophia Smith had Portland on the verge of a result. However, with a late goal from Daly, Houston was able to claim full points, earning a huge boost to their playoff hopes.

Here is Wednesday night, By The Numbers:

Wednesday marked the second time this season the Thorns have allowed more than one goal in a game at home. The last time they conceded multiple times at Providence Park was May 23, 2021, in a 2-1 home loss to OL Reign. Portland had gone seven straight home games without conceding multiple goals at home.
