Portland Thorns FC are on a roll. Unbeaten in their last four games. Six wins in the last eight. And once again, they found all three points on the road at BBVA Stadium on Saturday as they continue an impressive run against the Dash in regular-season play.

Every team, no matter the sport, has that one team that has its number. The Thorns are just that for the Dash. Portland is now unbeaten in its last 11 regular-season meetings (9-0-2) with Houston, which is the second-longest unbeaten streak against a single opponent in club history.

The longest – 18 GAMES against the Chicago Red Stars in regular-season play.

The Thorns are 12-2-3 all-time against the Dash, including a 5-1-3 mark in Houston.

If you used the commercial break before kickoff to get a quick bite, you likely missed the opening goal Sophia Smith scored just 32 seconds into the match. It’s the quickest goal scored in Thorns history, just edging the previous mark of 33 seconds by Jessica McDonald on July 17, 2014, at the Chicago Red Stars.

If you break out 3-2 … That was Smith’s second goal in two games (2), and it was her third (3) goal this season scored with her left foot, which is tied for the most in the NWSL.

In the last eight games, dating back to May 30, the Thorns have only conceded THREE goals. That’s it. Three. That same eight-game span includes six clean sheets.

En route to the clean sheet, the Thorns allowed just a single shot on goal in the first half. The backline has not allowed a first-half goal on eight occasions this season.
