Cascadia Cup Standings: Timbers atop standings heading into battle with Vancouver

Timbers.vsSanJose102712.CM254

Coming on the heels of a massive rivalry 3-0 away day victory over Seattle Sounders FC, the Portland Timbers are lined up for another Cascadia Cup showdown Sunday when they host Vancouver Whitecaps FC at Providence Park as part of MLS Heineken Rivalry Week (7:30pm PT, TICKETS, FOX 12 PLUS).

Portland is in first position for the supporter-created trophy with six points through two games. Vancouver has no points having lost to Portland in B.C. in April and also losing to Seattle in June. Though points remain for the taking for all three teams to clinch the cup, a Portland win Sunday will eliminate the Whitecaps from the 2022 competition and place the Timbers either one point earned or a point dropped by Seattle from winning the trophy.

The Cascadia Cup was created in 2004 by supporters of all three clubs and awarded to the supporters group of the club with the best record of the three-way, intra-club regular-season play. Portland has won it four times with the most recent coming in 2017. The competition was put on hiatus in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
