There have been few Timbers players like Sebastián Blanco.

The Argentine midfielder appeared in 176 regular-season matches over the course of seven seasons for Portland, racking up 41 goals and 51 assists. Blanco's 41 goals ranks among the club's all-time leading goal-scorers across all eras and is the third most in the MLS era. His 51 assists is second-most in the MLS era.

In postseason play, Blanco scored five goals and had one assist in 11 appearances which included scoring in both legs against Seattle in 2018 and a memorable game-winning golazo against Sporting Kansas City that same year. He helped lead the Timbers to the 2020 MLS is Back Tournament title – where he was named to the Tournament Best XI and Player of the Tournament – as well as two MLS Western Conference Championships (2018, 2021). Blanco's passionate love for the game energized his teammates and electrified fans.

“I would like to extend my personal gratitude to Sebastian, and on behalf of everyone within the club, for his seven incredible years in Portland,” said general manager Ned Grabavoy. “Few players have made as great an impact on and off the field, and he will unquestionably go down as one of the greatest to ever wear the Green and Gold.

“He has provided all of us countless moments of excitement over the years, and helped create so many lasting memories. Sebastian’s legacy will live on, we wish him all the best with any future opportunities, and look forward to celebrating his contributions as a Portland Timber in the very near future.”
