CenturyLink Man of the Match vs. San Jose: Kenny Cooper

MOTM @ SJ, Kenny Cooper

The Portland Timbers saw an early one-goal lead erased by former USL A-League Timber Alan Gordon in the 67th minute and held on for the 1-1 draw at San Jose on Saturday at Buck Shaw Stadium. Forward Kenny Cooper found the back of the net as Portland had to juggle their midfield with captain Jack Jewsbury missing his second straight match with a strained hamstring and midfielder Diego Chara serving a one-game ban for yellow card accumulation.

Cooper, who scored his last goal on April 30, opened the scoring for the away side in the 23rd minute. Cooper finished a cross from strike partner Jorge Perlaza after Jeremy Hall started the attack with a nice through ball up the right side for Perlaza. Cooper capitalized on his second straight start by ending his goal-scoring drought and with nearly 61 percent of the vote, Cooper is the clear winner of the CenturyLink Man of the Match.
