CONCACAF CHAMPIONS LEAGUE MATCH RECAP | Portland Timbers 1, Club América 1

PORTLAND, Ore.- Felipe Mora scored on a penalty kick on the final touch of the match to give the Portland Timbers a 1-1 draw against Club América in the first leg of the Scotiabank Concacaf Champions League quarterfinals on Wednesday night at Providence Park. The teams combined for 41 fouls and 10 yellow cards in the match.

23' — SAVE (POR) — Goalkeeper Jeff Attinella made the first save of the match when he made a diving stop, getting his outstretched arm on a long-range shot. 

45+' — GOAL (AME) — Club América took the lead when Roger 


50' — WOODWORK (POR) — Dairon Asprilla dribbled his way through the defense only to have his shot from a tight angle kiss off the crossbar. 

80' — SHOT (POR) — Asprilla forced a save when he fired an effort on target after chesting down a long cross. Asprilla's tight-angled effort was corralled by a diving Memo Ochoa.


90+7'— GOAL (POR) — After a defender was called for a handball in the box after a goalmouth scramble, forward Felipe Mora calmly slotted a penalty kick into the inside netting to give Portland the draw on the final touch of the match. It was Mora's second goal of the competition.

  • Felipe Mora scored the game-tying goal in the 97th minute of the match. Mora has scored two goals in the 2021 Concacaf Champions League.
  • Renzo Zambrano made his debut in the competition.
