“Double Post Bar” to debut March 6 for Portland Timbers

A custom bar – specifically designed for and personalized by the Timbers Army – is set to open at Providence Park during the Portland Timbers 2016 regular-season home opener against Columbus Crew SC on Sunday, March 6 (1:30pm PT, ESPN). The Double Post Bar is named after the critical moment in the Timbers penalty kick shootout victory over Sporting Kansas City in the 2015 MLS Cup Playoff Knockout Round match – when Sporting's Saad Abdul-Salaam saw his attempt bounce off both posts in the ninth round with the chance to win the match for Sporting.

The distinctive bar, situated in the North End behind Section 109 on the inner concourse, will have a number of special offerings, including:

  • The largest selection of draft beer and cider on the concourse, featuring 12 beers on tap flowing from 48 tap handles
  • A variety of local Oregon craft beers from Widmer, 2 Towns Cider and other Oregon breweries, plus popular European imports
  • A group of grab-and-go snacks from local partners like Masala Pop Indian Flavored Popcorn, Chunky Monkey Bacon Caramel Corn and Fuller Foods Serious Cheesy Puffs

The bar will also feature iconography from the Timbers Army and the Knockout Round match against Sporting KC during the Timbers’ 2015 championship run that ended with a 2-1 victory over Columbus Crew SC in MLS Cup.
