Four Portland Thorns FC players have been named to the United States’ roster for the 2021 SheBelieves Cup. The U.S.’s camp is scheduled to begin on February 8 and run through the tournament’s final game day, February 24.
Defender Becky Sauerbrunn, named U.S. captain during the team’s January camp, is the most experienced of the Thorns’ rostered players (179 career international appearances), followed up Crystal Dunn (107), midfielder Lindsey Horan (179) and attacker Sophia Smith (1).

Twenty-three players were named to the latest U.S. roster, 17 of which play in the National Women’s Soccer League. Three additional players, not on the tournament’s official roster, will train with the team during the February camp.
“[W]e want to continue to test different players in tough environments,” U.S. head coach Vlatko Andonovski said in U.S. Soccer’s roster announcement. “Each game will present its own unique challenges and the matches are not only a step up in competition from January, but as I’ve said before, are extremely valuable as a test run for group play at the Olympics.”
The 2021 SheBelieves Cup will feature the U.S., Argentina, Brazil and Canada and feature a round-robin format played over three dates: Februarys 18, 21 and 24. All matches will take place at Exploria Stadium in Orlando, Florida, with the U.S. serving as the annual tournament’s defending champion.
This year’s competition serves as a precursor to the Summer Olympics, which are scheduled to open in Tokyo on July 23.
