Portland Timbers defender Juan David Mosquera and midfielder Santiago Moreno have been called up for the Colombian National Team January training camp.
Mosquera was called into Colombia’s training camp in October of 2022, but has yet to earn his first senior cap. The 20-year-old defender made his MLS debut for Portland on Sept. 18 of last year and played a full 90 minutes in each of Portland’s final two matches of the 2022 campaign.
Moreno made his senior international debut for Colombia in a friendly match against Paraguay on Nov. 19, 2022. In his second season with the club, the 22-year-old attacker was one of two players to appear in every match for Portland (34) and led the Timbers with 22 points (7g, 8a) last season.
Following the Timbers’ friendly match against Sporting Kansas City on Jan. 21, Mosquera and Moreno will join the senior team in Barranquilla, Colombia, from Jan. 21-23. Colombia will then travel to Carson, Calif. to face the U.S. Men’s National Team in a friendly match on Jan. 28; kickoff is set for 4:30 p.m. (Pacific) on TNT.
