PORTLAND, Ore.
– The Portland Timbers today announced that defender
Cameron Knowles
has successfully undergone surgery at Montreal General Hospital to repair a lower right leg fracture, an injury he sustained during Wednesday’s game against the Montreal Impact.
As a result of the injury, Knowles will miss the remainder of the USL First Division season.
“The surgery to repair Cameron’s leg went very well,” said Timbers head coach and general manager,
Gavin Wilkinson
. “He will have to stay in Montreal for the next few days for initial recovery. We look forward to having him back in Portland on Tuesday and wish him a speedy recovery.”
A native of Auckland, New Zealand, Knowles, 26, was injured in the final minutes of the Timbers’ 1-0 win over the Impact Wednesday while attempting a tackle on an Impact player. The two-time all-league defender logged 1,800 minutes and an assist in 20 matches this season.
Defender
Cameron Dunn
will join the Timbers in Rochester, NY, today as the team prepares for its next match against the Rochester Rhinos on Saturday at 4:35 p.m. (Pacific).
