MATCH RECAP | Montréal Impact 2, Portland Timbers 1

MONTREAL – Despite a first career MLS goal from TomĂ¡s Conechny, the Portland Timbers lost 2-1 to the MontrĂ©al Impact at Stade Saputo Wednesday night. The Impact was led by a brace from Orji Okwonkwo.

21' - POST (MTL) - Impact midfielder Orji Okwonkwo jumped on a loose back pass, came down the right channel and hit a shot that went off the inside of the near post and away.


28' - GOAL (MTL) - Okwonkwo made it 1-0 when he took a ball over the top from Bacary Sagna and hit it into the back of the net.


44' - CHANCE (POR) - Portland held some sustained possession around the Montréal 18-yard box late in the first half. Portland defender Marco Farfan cut inside from the left and sent a pass across to Dairon Asprilla who hit a hard shot but right at Impact goalkeeper Evan Bush.


53' - GOAL (POR) - Timbers leveled the score at 1-1 on a Portland free kick opportunity. Marvin LorĂ­a curled in a great ball to the back left post that defender Julio Cascante leaped high to head down into the path of TomĂ¡s Conechny who nodded it past a scrambling Bush for his first-ever career MLS goal.

57' - CHANCE (POR) - Leading Portland on the break, Asprilla played a ball up to Conechny on the left side of the goal who then left it for the sprinting Eryk Williamson but his mis-hit shot was deflected away.


66' - GOAL (MTL) - Okwonkwo scored his second goal of the game to make it 2-1 for MontrĂ©al when, back to goal, he spun on knocked down ball in the Timbers 18-yard box and hit it into the upper right 90 of the Portland net.
