MATCH RECAP | Portland Timbers 1, San Jose Earthquakes 1

PORTLAND, Ore. – Felipe Mora scored his team-leading fifth goal of the season and the Portland Timbers drew 1-1 with the San Jose Earthquakes Wednesday night in front of a crowd of 22,233 at Providence Park.

Match Moments

13' - SAVE (POR) - Following a Timbers corner kick, San Jose sped out on a counter attack. Quakes midfielder Cristian Espinoza played a throughball to midfielder Cade Cowell but Portland goalkeeper Steve Clark made a quick save on Cowell's shot.

18' - CHANCE (POR) - The Timbers kept pressure forward in the attacking third. Midfielder Yimmi Chara found some space outside the San Jose 18-yard box but his rising shot was high over the bar.

24' - GOAL (SJ) - The Earthquakes took a 1-0 lead in the 24th minute when a shot from Espinoza was bobbled by Clark and then tucked into the goal by midfielder Javier "Chofis" Lopez.

27' - CHANCE (POR) - Forward Felipe Mora's hold up play sprung Yimmi Chara into the box but his shot was deflected just wide of the left post. On the ensuing corner, a flicked-on ball found defender Bill Tuiloma to head on target but SJ goalkeeper JT Marcinkowski made the save.

37' - CHANCE (POR) - Timbers midfielder Dairon Asprilla beat two San Jose defenders before sending a cross to the back post for Josecarlos Van Rankin but his strong header flashed across the face of goal and wide.

42' - SAVE (POR) - After coming on due to an injury to Clark, Portland goalkeeper Aljaz Ivacic made a sliding save on a close-in shot from Espinoza.

45+1' - CHANCE (POR) - On a Timbers corner kick, Mora headed a ball towards the top corner but Marcinkowski caught it.

45+6' - GOAL (POR) - The Timbers tied it at 1-1 just before the halftime whistle. On a corner kick from the near side, Tuiloma flicked his header down towards the far post where Mora poked the ball into the back of the net.

62' - CHANCE (POR) - Freshly into the match, midfielder Sebastían Blanco received a rolled ball near the endline from Diego Chara. Blanco tapped it towards the middle for Mora but Marcinkowski stretched to swat the ball away.

65' - CHANCE (POR) - Mora again performed some nice hold-up play, got the ball back to Blanco who one-timed his pass ahead to Yimmi Chara in the box. Chara chipped Marcinkowski but it floated just above the crossbar.

67' - SAVE (POR) - Ivacic made a spectacular save on a point blank shot from San Jose's Espinoza.

71' - CHANCE (POR) - Yimmi Chara threaded a pass to Mora at the penalty spot. Mora flicked the ball up to himself, spun and fired but went just wide of the right post.

77' - CHANCE (POR) - Blanco crossed a nice ball into the top of the six-yard box that defender Larrys Mabiala headed wide of the right post.

90+3' - RED CARD (POR) - Midfielder Diego Chara was issued a second yellow card and accompanying red card for a foul just outside the Portland 18-yard box leaving the Timbers with 10 men.

90+6' - SAVE (POR) - Aljaz tipped over the bar a San Jose shot on a corner kick to keep the score level.
