MATCH RECAP | Portland Timbers 2, FC Dallas 0

PORTLAND, Ore. ‚Äď Forward Fanendo Adi scored his 13th career brace and the Portland Timbers rolled to their second shutout win in a row as they beat FC Dallas 2-0 in front of a crowd 21,144 at Providence Park Saturday night.

The Timbers defense faced 10 shots with goalkeeper Jake Gleeson making two saves as the team earned their third clean sheet of 2017.

Match Moments

5' - CHANCE (POR) - Given space outside the 18-yard box, Adi hit a knuckling shot that Dallas goalkeeper Jesse Gonzalez was forced to push over the bar.

22' - SAVE (POR) - As Dallas pushed up into attack, Michael Barrios crossed the ball inside the six-yard box to Roland Lamah who hit the ball on frame. Gleeson made the save but the rebound skittered along the goal line until defender Zarek Valentin kicked it upfield to clear.

32' - GOAL (POR) - After dominating much of the first half, Portland got on the board first right at the stroke of the 32nd minute. Midfielder Amobi Okugo won the ball at midfield before feeding it to Sebasti√°n Blanco. Blanco burst forward, slipped a pass through two defenders for Adi who then carried in on goal and managed to place the ball around Gonzalez for a 1-0 lead.

The good guys strike first.

41' - CHANCE (POR) - Timbers midfielder Dairon Asprilla turned and hammered a shot on frame that Gonzalez again had to knock over the bar.

72' - GOAL (POR) - Adi doubled the lead in the 72nd minute in dominating fashion. As Valeri collected the ball at midfield, he sprung Asprilla on his right who carried forward. Asprilla cut the ball back across the face of goal to find Adi on the back post. Adi faked his shot with his left foot causing Gonzalez to dive before switching to his right foot and hitting it into the open net for a 2-0 lead.

"Adi! Adi! Adi! Adi! Adi!" Yes, @timbersarmy, yes.

Portland will open their 2017 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup campaign Tuesday as they travel to take on Seattle Sounders FC in Tukwila, Wash. (7:30pm PT) before returning to MLS play next Saturday on the road against the Colorado Rapids (6:30pm PT, ROOT SPORTS).
