MATCH RECAP | Portland Timbers 2, Los Angeles FC 3

PORTLAND, Ore. – Despite second half goals from Cristhian Paredes in the 46th minute and a bicycle kick strike from Brian Fernandez in the 85th minute – his fourth goal in three games – the Portland Timbers lost 3-2 to Los Angeles FC in the grand re-opening of Providence Park Saturday night in front of a sellout crowd of 25,281.



Match Moments

6' - GOAL (LAFC) - Following a misplayed pass out of the back, LAFC's Carlos Vela pounced on the ball, raced in from the right and slotted home a goal to make it 1-0 for the visitors.


8' - CHANCE (POR) - On a Timbers corner kick, Larrys Mabiala leaped and headed the ball down just wide of the right post.


34' - GOAL (LAFC) - LAFC made it 2-0 when Diego Rossi snuck in from the left and knocked in a low cross from Tristan Blackmon.


46' - GOAL (POR) - Portland came out quick after the break, peppering the LAFC goal with a number of shots. Sebastián Blanco's cross found Brian Fernandez at the top of the six. His header was saved by Los Angeles' Tyler Miller but Cristhian Paredes volleyed in the rebound to make it 2-1.

48' - CHANCE (POR) - Fernandez was freed on the break and hit a low shot that Miller dived to save. Diego Chara raced in to try for the rebound but Miller was able to cover.


54' - GOAL (LAFC) - Latif Blessing made it 3-1 for LAFC when he connected on a cross from Jordan Harvey.


56' - CHANCE (POR) - Jorge Moreira threaded a ball up to Fernandez that he flicked on towards goal but Miller was able to palm it away for a Timbers corner.


61' - CHANCE (POR) - The Timbers kept at it with Diego Valeri darting along the top of the 18-yard box from the left. His skipping shot was parried away by a diving save from Miller.


85' - GOAL (POR) - The Timbers made it 3-2 in spectacular fashion when Jorge Villafaña's cross found Jeremy Ebobisse in the box. Ebobisse headed it back across the face of goal where Fernandez hit it on the volley with a bicycle kick and into the net.
