MATCH RECAP | Portland Timbers 2, New England Revolution 2

PORTLAND, Ore. – Forward Jeremy Ebobisse scored two goals and the Portland Timbers picked up a point as they drew 2-2 with the New England Revolution Wednesday night at Providence Park.

Match Moments

21' - CHANCE (POR) - A ball was sent through to Timbers forward Jeremy Ebobisse. He niftily flicked up and over himself but was off-balance on his left-footed shot and New England goalkeeper Brad Knighton made the save.

22' - CHANCE (POR) - Midfielder Diego Valeri received the ball in the right channel, took a touch, stutter-stepped and tried shooting near post but hit it wide right.

27' - SAVE (POR) - Revolution forward Gustavo Bou, with a free kick right on the edge of the Timbers 18-yard box, hit a low, deflected shot that Portland goalkeeper Steve Clark sprang back across to get a hand to and knock out for a corner.

35' - CHANCE (POR) - Portland midfielder Sebastián Blanco, 25 yards from goal, faked a shot with his right foot, dribbled forward and hit a swerving, left-footed shot that forced a diving save from Knighton.

49' - GOAL (POR) - Portland broke their own goalless drought in spectacular fashion in the 48th minute. After period of sustained offensive pressure in the attacking third, defender Jorge Villafaña sent a cross to the far post where Ebobisse slammed it into the back of the net with a diving header to give the Timbers a 1-0 lead.

57' - CHANCE (POR) - Valeri chipped a cross to Blanco on the back post. He headed it towards goal forcing Knighton to push the ball up and over the bar.

75' - CHANCE (POR) - Portland almost unlocked the New England defense in the 75th minute. Patiently working the ball around the Revolution box, Valeri slipped a pass into the speeding Blanco near the penalty area. Blanco got a touch to it but Knighton sprang off his line to smother the ball.

78' - SAVE (POR) - Revolution midfielder Carles Gil sent a ball to the Timbers' back post where Bou jumped to head it down but Clark alertly made the save.

80' - SAVE (POR) - New England kept attacking and midfielder Scott Caldwell hit a shot from distance that was dipping towards goal. Clark sprang high to tip the ball over the bar.

81' - GOAL (POR) - A minute later, Blanco looped a ball towards Ebobisse at the near post. As the forward was falling, he flicked his back leg out to acrobatically knock the ball past a surprised Knighton to put the Timbers up 2-0.

87' - GOAL (NE) - The Revolution pulled a goal back when Teal Bunbury played a ball forward to Bou who slotted it past Clark.

89 - SAVE (POR) - Clark came up again big when a ball found its way through to Bunbury who backheeled it on goal but Clark dove to his right to save.

90+7' - GOAL (PK) (NE) - Following a controversial VAR of a play in the box, referee Jair Marrufo ruled against Portland for a foul awarded a penalty kick to the Revolution. New England's Gil hit his shot to the left, Clark guessed correctly but the shot went just past his hands and tied the game at 2-2.
