PORTLAND, Ore. – The Portland Timbers lost 6-2 Sunday evening to Seattle Sounders FC in front of a sellout crowd of 25,218 sellout

Match Moments

9' - CHANCE (POR) - A ball up to Diego Chara on the right channel sprung him into space. He rolled a cross-field pass to his brother but Yimmi couldn't get the ball to settle and Seattle goalkeeper Stefan Cleveland came off his line to smother the chance.

13' - GOAL (SEA) - Timbers goalkeeper Aljaz Ivacic made an initial great save on a header in the box from RaĂşl RuidĂ­az but as Portland attempted to clear the rebound, Sounders forward Fredy Montero collected it and kicked it under the sprawled Ivacic into the goal.

21' - CHANCE (POR) - A perfectly sent ball over the top from defender Dario Zuparic hit forward Felipe Mora in stride inside the Seattle box. Mora trapped the ball down and tried to chip the 'keeper but Cleveland jumped high to knock the ball and gather.

22' - CHANCE (POR) - A minute later, Yimmi Chara's free kick found Larrys Mabiala in the box who headed his shot down but Cleveland dove to his right to make the save.

27' - CHANCE (POR) - Midfielder Sebastián Blanco curled a cross into the box that was headed out wide. Defender Claudio Bravo collected, fed midfielder Dairon Asprilla with his back to goal who turned and fired but his shot was saved. On a corner kick moments later, midfielder George Fochive's low shot trickled through defenders but Cleveland dove to make another save.

29' - GOAL (SEA) - Against the run of play, Montero took a shot from the edge of the area that went into the far corner to make it 2-0 for the visitors.

32' - GOAL (POR) - Portland pulled one back in the 32nd minute as Mora fed a speeding Blanco into the box whose shot was on target, hit a Seattle defender, and curled up and over the 'keeper to halve the score to 2-1.

45+1' - CHANCE (POR) - Diego Chara collected the ball in the middle before spraying it out wide left to Yimmi Chara. Yimmi cut to the inside along the corner of the 18-yard box and hit a low shot that was saved.

47' - CHANCE (POR) - Coming out of the half, Portland stayed on the front foot. Blanco, positioned on the far sideline, spotted Asprilla on the far post but Asprilla's header was over the bar.

52' - GOAL (POR) - The Timbers tied it in the 52nd minute at 2-2 off a corner kick. Yimmi Chara's service was headed out of the box but Bravo collected and unleashed a lasered shot that Cleveland dove to parry away. However, midfielder George Fochive hit the rebound on the half-volley to even the score.

55' - GOAL (SEA) - Four minutes later, Seattle's RuidĂ­az hammered a free kick from the very edge of the 18-yard box to put Portland down 3-2.

59' - CHANCE (POR) - On a Portland corner kick into the box, Mabiala flicked his header just over the bar.

72' - GOAL (SEA) - Portland trailed 4-2 as a free kick from Nicolás Lodeiro was initially saved but Ruidíaz scored off the rebound.

77' - GOAL (SEA) - The Sounders took a 5-2 lead as Jimmy Medranda scored on a volley off a Seattle corner kick.

90+4' - GOAL (SEA) - Late in stoppage time, Nicolas Benezet scored for Seattle to make the final score 6-2.
