MATCH RECAP | Ten-man Portland Timbers lose 3-1 to 10-man LA Galaxy

PORTLAND, Ore. – In a card-filled affair, a 10-man Portland Timbers fell 3-1 to a 10-man LA Galaxy Sunday afternoon at Providence Park.

Defender Bill Tuiloma scored the lone goal for Portland with a 30-yard free kick golazo in the 51st minute.

Match Moments

9' - GOAL (LA) - The Galaxy took a nearly lead in the ninth minute when Samuel Grandsir's cross found Javier "Chicharito" Hernández on the back post to poke the ball into the back of the net.

11' - CHANCE (POR) - A poor defensive clearance by LA saw the ball fall to Yimmi Chara. He slipped a ball to Cristhian Paredes who saw his spinning shot get parried away with a sprawling save from LA goalkeeper Jonathan Bond.

16' - OWN GOAL (LA) - LA went up 2-0 when Grandsir went 1v1 into the Timbers area before his hard-angled shot deflected off of Bill Tuiloma and into the goal.

24' - DOUBLE SAVE (POR) - LA's Chicharito chipped a ball that was headed on frame but Portland goalkeeper Aljaz Ivacic got down to knock away. Another LA player attempted to backheel the rebound but Ivacic sprang to smother the attempt.

27' and 28' - CHANCES (POR) - Y. Chara collected the ball near the edge of the LA 18-yard box, stutter-stepped around a defender but sent his attempt wide. Moments later, Y. Chara broke through the defense, rounded the goalkeeper, but the shot was saved off the line by LA's Derrick Williams.

45+3' - RED CARD (POR) - Portland went down to 10 men when Pablo Bonilla was shown a straight red card by referee Nima Saghafi following an altercation between Bonilla and an LA player.

51' - GOAL (POR) - Tuiloma pulled a goal back for the short-handed Timbers with a spectacular 30-yard thunderbolt of a free kick into the upper 90 to make the score 2-1.

59' - GOAL (LA) - Chicharito scored his second for the Galaxy when he received a pass from Raheem Edwards and fired into the bottom corner of the Timbers net, making the score 3-1.

61' - RED CARD (LA) - The Galaxy went down to 10 men themselves when LA's Mark Delgado received his second yellow card for a foul just outside their own 18-yard box.

74' - SAVE (POR) - After a turnover led to a 2-on-1 break for LA, Ivacic made a great kick save to deny a shot from the Galaxy's Chicharito.
