T2 Post-Game Quotes

Portland Timbers 2 vs. Sporting KC II

May 15, 2022 - Hillsboro Stadium (Hillsboro, Ore.)

Final: Timbers2 1, Sporting KC II 2

T2 head coach Shannon Murray

Thoughts on tonight's match...

“I think for 75 minutes of the game we were really really good, from the way we moved the ball, the way we unbalanced and created shots, the way we defended, I don’t think we gave up a shot until 55 or 60th minute of the game. So, from that standpoint there’s a lot to be proud of with the group and we were short numbers as well so really at a point when we could usually change the game with a sub to help the situation out, we weren’t able to do that. From what the players gave to the game, and they did what we asked them to do, they were very good today.”

What the team looks to improve on next game...

“I think for a young group, a bunch of kids, in terms of professional soccer, managing a game, especially late with a 1-0 lead once you get to those last 15 minutes. Then if you do give up a goal, how do you react? So, from those standpoints, maybe those are the areas we have to improve on but there was a lot of good tonight to be honest with you.”
