PORTLAND, Ore. – Portland Timbers midfielder Darlington Nagbe has been named to the U.S. Men’s National Team roster for a pair of 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifying matches against Panama and Trinidad and Tobago, it was announced today.

Nagbe will not miss any league games with the Timbers, with the midfielder set to rejoin the squad ahead of Portland’s next match, a home game against D.C. United at Providence Park on Oct. 15.

Nagbe, 27, and the United States will play host to Panama at Orlando City Stadium in Orlando, Fla., on Friday, Oct. 6. Beginning at 4:30 p.m. (Pacific), the match against Panama will be televised nationally on ESPN2, Univision and UDN. Following the game against Panama, the United States will travel to face Trinidad and Tobago on Tuesday, Oct. 10, at Ato Boldon Stadium in Couva, Trinidad. Beginning at 5 p.m. (Pacific), the fixture will be broadcast live on beIN SPORTS and UNIVERSO.

Playing on the international stage, Nagbe has earned 22 caps since making his international debut in 2015, including three appearances in the 2016 Copa America Centenario, featuring against Colombia and Argentina. Most recently, following three straight starts in the USMNT’s 2017 CONCACAF Gold Cup championship run, Nagbe made back-to-back starts in 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifying matches against Costa Rica (Sept. 1) and Honduras (Sept. 5).

The Timbers’ all-time leader in games played (212) across all eras (since 1975), Nagbe has made 25 regular-season appearances (25 starts) for the Timbers in 2017, producing the fourth-most points (11) on the team with three goals and five assists.
