Notebook: Thorns Academy's Coll called into U.S. U-17s camp

Hailey Coll, Thorns Academy, 09.30.17

A new year has presented a new opportunity for Portland Thorns FC Academy’s Hailey Coll. The goalkeeper has been called into camp with the U.S. U-17 National Team for training and a pair of friendlies against Venezuela in Bradenton, Fla.

Coll is among 24 players – three 'keepers – called into camp under head coach Mark Carr. Camp will take place Jan. 10-19 and include matches against Venezuela's U-17s on Monday, Jan. 15, at Eckard College and again on Friday, Jan. 18, at the IMG Academy.

The camp and friendlies will help prepare the U.S. U-17s ahead of the 2018 CONCACAF Women’s U-17s Championship. The tournament will qualify three teams for the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup later this year.

With the Thorns U-19 Academy, Coll has started eight of her 11 appearances in the team’s inaugural U.S. Soccer Development Academy season, contributing to four shutouts.
