PORTLAND, Ore. – Issaquah SC found three second-half goals as they went on to beat the adidas Timbers Alliance club Portland Rain, 3-1, on Friday, June 29 at Lincoln High School in WPSL play.
Portland Rain's Kenya Corder opened the scoring in the 23rd minute as a Portland corner kick landed with enough power in the middle of a scrum to take a high bounce. Cordner rose to meet the ball high off the bounce to head it into the goal
But Issaquah SC fought back to score three unanswered goals. In the 53rd minute, Stephanie Cunnings worked her way into the goal box to score a goal very reminiscent of Portland’s goal.
Issaquah's Shauna Anderson broke the tie in the 67th minute as both teams worked to clear the ball out of the penalty area. However, Anderson found herself with the ball at her feet and an open goal to sneak the ball in just past a confused Rain goalkeeper.
Issaquah SC added a third goal of the match just three minutes later in the 70th minute as Joanna Houplin fired the ball into the goal from distance.
The Rain will travel to play Oregon Rush on July 1, at Summit High School.
