PORTLAND, Ore. — The Portland Timbers today announced that MLS league pool goalkeeper Daniel Withrow has joined the club. He has arrived in Portland and began training with the club Tuesday.
A native of Rochester Hills, Mich., Withrow, 23, spent the 2013 MLS season with the Columbus Crew after being selected by the club in the 2013 MLS Supplemental Draft. Withrow played collegiately at Marshall University from 2009-12, where he was a four-time, All-Conference USA selection, including first-team honors in each of his final three seasons. He was named the C-USA Defender of the Year as a sophomore in 2010 and garnered Co-C-USA Player of the Year honors following his senior season in 2012. Withrow made 67 career appearances for Marshall, registering 21 shutouts.
