In celebration of the Portland Timbers’ first MLS Cup victory against Columbus Crew SC on Sunday at MAPFRE Stadium in Columbus, Ohio, the Timbers will host a parade through downtown Portland beginning at 12 noon (Pacific) on Tuesday, Dec. 8. In addition to the parade, the club will hold a rally at Providence Park starting at 6 p.m. (Pacific), with gates for the free stadium event opening at 5 p.m.
The championship parade route will begin at the intersection of Broadway and Stark in downtown Portland and will travel eight blocks down Broadway before finishing at the intersection of Broadway and Madison. Media outlets will be able to utilize a cutout near Nordstrom across from the Starbucks on Broadway for cameras.
Later in the day, the Timbers will host a championship rally for fans at Providence Park free and open to the public, beginning at 6 p.m. (Pacific); gates open to the event at 5 p.m. (Pacific). In addition to complimentary coffee, hot dogs and hot chocolate, discounted food and beverage will be available for purchase. Fans also will have the opportunity to purchase MLS Cup championship merchandise.
The championship rally will feature remarks by Timbers players and team and city officials, and a trophy presentation with Timber Joey cutting slabs of the victory log from MLS Cup for the team.
