The Portland Timbers were really eager to impress all the mom's on this past Mother's Day. In a 3-0 win over Chivas USA, Portland tallied 19 attempts on goal, 82% passing accuracy and dominated in the attacking third throughout the match. Rodney Wallace put the Timbers on the board first, followed by a Diego Valeri goal--via Wallace pass--and finally Will Johnson had a stoppage time strike that was nominated for MLS Goal of the Week.
But in the latest MLS Top Performers poll, it was Valeri's goal and two assists that put him to the top of the list ahead of Vancouver Whitecaps FC's Russell Teibert's 2 goals in their win over LA and Lamar Neagle's 2 goals and 4 shots for Seattle Sounders FC versus San Jose.
