The Rapids Reserves (4-7-2, 14pts) edged the Timbers Reserves (4-5-3, 15pts) 1-0 in their previous meeting back in March in Commerce City, Colo.

The Timbers Reserves are coming off a road loss against the Chivas USA Reserves last weekend. Reduced to 10 players following a red card issued in the 41st minute, the Timbers Reserves struck for their lone goal in the 55th minute when forward Ryan Johnson converted a cross from midfielder Ben Zemanski. The Chivas USA Reserves received two-goal performances from Chivas USA Tristan Bowen and Jorge Villafaña.

The Rapids Reserves suffered a 3-1 loss at home against the FC Dallas Reserves at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park on Sept. 15. The Rapids Reserves pulled within one late in the 92nd minute, but FC Dallas Reserves responded with a goal from Victor Ulloa in the 94th minute to put the game away. The Rapids Reserves close their season Saturday.

Following Saturday’s contest, the Timbers Reserves have one final match in the 2013 MLS Reserve League season on Oct. 14 against the Seattle Sounders FC Reserves at JELD-WEN Field.
