PORTLAND, Ore. – The Portland Timbers and Portland Thorns FC announced today that Collin Romer has been named vice president of communications.
In his role with the Timbers, Thorns FC, T2 and Providence Park, Romer will oversee and direct all aspects of the club’s communications and public relations.
Romer returns to the club after spending the past 14 years in the communications department of the NBA’s Portland Trail Blazers, most recently holding the title of basketball communications director and serving as one of the team’s primary media contacts.
Prior to his tenure with the Trail Blazers, Romer served for three seasons (2003-05) as media relations manager for the Timbers during the club’s USL First Division era.
A Rose City native who attended the city’s Grant High School and later graduated from the University of Oregon’s School of Journalism and Communication, Romer and his family reside in Portland’s Kenton neighborhood.
