Chilean forward departs Portland after seven seasons with the club
PORTLAND, Ore. – The Portland Timbers today announced that forward Felipe Mora has been transferred to Atlético de San Luis of Liga MX.
“Pipe Mora is up there with the all-time Portland Timbers greats. What he has done on the pitch speaks for itself. Producing the third most all-time PTFC goals, including the 2021 MLS Cup stoppage-time equalizer that made Providence Park louder than it has ever been,” club owner Merritt Paulson shared. “But what he has given us off the field is equally incredible. Pipe truly loves this club. He is a prince of a person, and the Portland Timbers are better because of him.”
Mora joined the Timbers on loan from Liga MX side Pumas UNAM in January 2020 before being permanently acquired by Portland on Jan. 19, 2021. During his time with the club, the 32-year-old striker cemented himself in Timbers’ history, ranking third in club history in goals scored (46), fourth in goal contributions (66), ninth in assists (20) and 10th in appearances (144).
“Felipe Mora’s contributions on and off the field since arriving in Portland can only be matched by few in club history,” said Timbers General Manager Ned Grabavoy. “He is the definition of a consummate professional and has earned the trust and respect of everyone associated with the Portland Timbers. We wish nothing but the very best for Felipe and his family, and he will hold a place within the Green & Gold forever.”
Across all competitions, including Concacaf Champions League, Leagues Cup, and MLS postseason, Mora has scored a total of 56 goals in Green and Gold. In 10 MLS Cup Playoffs appearances, Mora notched four goals, including a brace in the 2025 MLS Cup Playoffs Wild Card match against Real Salt Lake.
In 2021, Mora led Portland in goals during the regular season (11) and postseason (2), helping the club to their third MLS Cup appearance. Notably, he scored the game-tying goal in the 94th minute of the 2021 MLS Cup, which at the time marked the latest game-tying goal in MLS Cup history.
The Santiago, Chile native recorded a career best in goals (14), assists (6), and goal contributions (20) in the 2024 season, contributing to the most goals scored by the team in a single season in its MLS era.
