The 2026 Pride Scarf

Artist Statement from El Tran:

"I believe there is a disruption to the current political and social perceptions of our trangender community in visibility. A way of challenging and reclaiming the narrative, through active solidarity, support and care for our communities—our neighbors.

I’ve isolated an abstract representation of my own journey in gender-affirming care: my own top surgery scars. By pulling visual interest and cues from alternative subcultures, it helps to layer the idea of a rejection of what is “normal”, what solidarity can look and sound like, what social interdependence means in this context, and what needs to be challenged in the face of unfettered authority.

Black trans women and trans femmes deserve safety. Trans youth deserve a future. Trans people belong in media, sports and in public spaces. We are not up for debate."
