Portland Timbers midfielder Jack Barmby talks about his youth in the Manchester United academy, his favorite soccer memory and his thoughts on the Providence Park gameday feeling.

Favorite Soccer Memory
"My favorite soccer memory would have to be when I scored on my league debut at 18 years old while I was on loan with Hartlepool United."

Childhood Inspiration
"When I was at Manchester United as a youth team player, we used to go to every home game so I used to love watching Paul Scholes and Wayne Rooney play. To watch them play every other Saturday at home was special. The only bad thing was that Cristiano Ronaldo just left the club, so I would've loved to have seen him because he's one of my favorite players, but to see Scholes and Rooney training and then playing on a Saturday at Old Trafford was quite special."

Providence Park
"I think the atmosphere here is better than the majority of the gameday atmospheres I've experienced in Europe. The atmosphere here is basically like a party every single weekend, and I think overall the atmosphere is a lot nicer."

Adjusting to Portland
"There's not much change in terms of the lifestyle here in Portland, but, playing wise, the traveling and playing in different altitudes and temperatures has been an adjustment for sure."

Reflecting on his former club
"It was unbelievable to see Leicester City winning the Premier League. To see them translate the work they put in during training into performances and to go on and win the league was just great to see because everyone was working for each other."
