The Portland Timbers take on Seattle Sounders FC for the final time in the 2020 MLS regular season when the clubs face off Thursday night at CenturyLink Field (7:30pm PT, FS1). Here are five numbers to know for #SEAvPOR in the latest edition of Quick Strikes.
4 Thursday's match will be the fourth meeting between the Timbers and Sounders in 2020. It is the first time in MLS that the two clubs have faced each other four times in the regular season and the first time since 2006 in all eras of the rivalry.
3 For just the third time in MLS and the first time in the regular season, Portland and Seattle are facing off on a Thursday night. The Timbers have twice eliminated the Sounders in the MLS Cup Playoffs with both of those occurring on a Thursday.
9 No player has more assists against the Sounders in MLS play than Diego Valeri. The Argentine midfielder's nine assists against Seattle are two more than any other MLS player.
38 Portland leads MLS in assists this season with 38, which is one ahead of the Sounders. A total of 12 different players have assists this season with Valeri and Diego Chara leading the way with six apiece.
31 The two teams are currently tied at the top of the Western Conference standings at 31 points apiece. It will be the second time in MLS that the clubs have faced while being tied in the standings, joining the first ever MLS match between the clubs on May 14, 2011 when each team had 13 points.
