RECAP | Portland Timbers fall 2-0 to Colorado Rapids

COMMERCE CITY, Colo. – Goals on either side of halftime from the Colorado Rapids handed the Portland Timbers a 2-0 loss Saturday evening at Dick's Sporting Goods Park.

28' - CHANCE (POR) - Midfielder Santiago Moreno made a nice turn near midfield and sprinted forward with the ball before firing a shot wide of the right post.

45+1' - CHANCE (POR) - Moreno won a header near the top of the Colorado arc that brought the ball down to Felipe Mora on the near side. The Timbers striker hit a shot towards the far post forcing a save from Colorado goalkeeper William Yarbrough.

45+2' - GOAL (COL) - Moments before the halftime whistle, Rapids midfielder Braian GalvĂ¡n whipped in a cross from the left that found a leaping Dominque Badji who headed the ball down and into the net to put Portland behind 1-0.

48' - CHANCE (POR) - The Timbers worked the ball along the left side. Mora collected the ball off a Rapids defender and hit his shot on frame but Yarbrough made the save.

50' - CHANCE (POR) - Diego Valeri sent a corner kick short to Moreno who quickly passed it back to the Argentine. Valeri's hard, knuckling shot was deflected away by a surprised Yarbrough.

63' - GOAL (POR) - The Rapids doubled their lead as a cross from GalvĂ¡n was headed down by defender Larrys Mabiala but right to Colorado forward Diego Rubio who scored to make it 2-0.

71' - SAVE (POR) - Colorado broke forward with Michel Barrios slipping through but Steve Clark made a nice save on the shot.

85' - CHANCE (POR) - Midfielder George Fochive hit a left-footed shot from the edge of the 18-yard box on frame but Yarbrough made another save.
