Ryan Pore
was selected as the Portland Timbers “Man of the Month” for the month of August, it was announced today. He was selected by fans through a recent fan poll on the Timbers’ website, portlandtimbers.com.
Pore, 25, scored six goals in August, tallying one in each of the first six matches of the month. His six-goal run set a new modern-franchise record for goals scored in consecutive matches. Among his six strikes, two were game-winners.
A native of Mansfield, Ohio, Pore helped the Timbers assemble a 5-0-2 record in August – the busiest month of the regular season. He was named to the USL First Division Team of the Week twice last month.
In his first season with the Timbers, Pore ranks among league and team leaders with 10 goals and 22 points. He has attempted 61 shots in 21 games, which ranks among modern-franchise single-season leaders; the most shots taken by a Timbers player in a single season was 76 by McKinley Tennyson in 2002.
The Timbers play host to a pair of matches this week at PGE Park, facing the Austin Aztex Friday at 7 p.m. and the Cleveland City Stars on Sunday at 5 p.m. Tickets for both matches start at $11 and are available through the PGE Park box office, area Ticketmaster locations, online at www.ticketmaster.com or phone at (800) 745-3000.
