The Portland Timbers delivered their second clean sheet of the year, defeating the San Jose Earthquakes 2-0 Friday night at Providence Park. Here are three key #StatMan takeaways from the match. 


45 With his brace, Diego Valeri drew even with John Bain for second-most goals in Timbers' all-era history with 45 career goals. Valeri is now two goals shy of his teammate Fanendo Adifor the all-time lead. 


3 Making his second consecutive start, defender Zarek Valentin delivered the game-winning assist while also shutting down the the left side of San Jose's attack. Valentin now has three assists as a member of the Timbers, each of which have contributed to a Valeri goal. 


5 Portland extended their home winning streak against the San Jose Earthquakes to five consecutive games. The Timbers have never lost to San Jose in an MLS match at Providence Park, having gone 7-0-3 against the Earthquakes in seven MLS seasons.
