#StatMan Three | Diego Valeri's historic assist caps home opening victory

In their 2018 home opener, the Portland Timbers defeated Minnesota United FC 3-2 Saturday night at a rain-soaked Providence Park. Here are three key #StatMan takeaways from the match. 


55 With his assist on Fanendo Adi's 74th minute goal, Diego Valeri notched the 55th assist of his Timbers career. The assist moves the midfielder into a tie for most assists in Timbers history with John Bain. 


2 Midfielder Cristhian Paredes turned in a strong performance in his first match at Providence Park. The 19-year-old was credited with two assists, the first assists of his MLS career. 


1+1 For the second time in his professional career, Alvas Powell both scored a goal and had an assist in the same match. The last time the defender accomplished the feat was Sept. 7, 2014.
