#StatMan Three | Valeri strikes early and Adi bags his third career CCL goal

Playing in Central America for the second time in the history of the club, the Portland Timbers were defeated 4-2 by Deportivo Saprissa on Wednesday. Here are three #StatMan takeaways from the match. 


5Diego Valeri struck first, scoring in the fifth minute for the Timbers. The goal is the earliest out of Portland's 19 all-time CONCACAF Champions League goals.


3 Forward Fanendo Adi continued his impressive season, scoring his 15th goal across all competitions in 2016. The Nigerian has now scored three CCL goals since joining the Timbers in 2014. 


2 Despite the loss, Portland was able to score two goals, which is the same amount of goals scored by the previous four MLS teams to visit Saprissa combined. It is also the fifth time in six CCL matches that the Timbers have scored multiple goals.
