Heading into Thursday's 2015 adidas MLS SuperDraft, the Portland Timbers have four picks in the first two rounds--one in the first and three in the second. Their first pick--5th overall--came courtesy of a 2013 preseason trade with Colorado Rapids in exchange for Danny Mwanga.
Historically, what players have come out of the draft at number 5? Here's a quick look at some recent names:
2006:Sacha Kljestan - Selected by Chivas USA, Kljestan came to MLS after a standout career at Seton Hall. After 114 games with Chivas USA, Kljestan left in 2010 for Anderlecht in the Belgian Pro League and played in the UEFA Champions League. Kljestan also has 46 caps for the USMNT and was an important part of the U.S.' qualifying campaign for the 2014 FIFA World Cup.
2010: Zach Loyd - The slick defender from the University of North Carolina went to FC Dallas in 2010 and has been a mainstay ever since having played in 140 games in his career. In his rookie campaign, Loyd was a key cog in Dallas' run to the 2010 MLS Cup final.
2013: Erik Hurtado - The Beaverton native and former Timbers U-23s striker went to the Vancouver Whitecaps in 2013. The speedy Santa Clara alum played in 19 games his rookie 2013 year and sparked in 2014 with 5 goals and 3 assists for the Caps.
2014: Eric Miller - Another Timbers U-23s and U.S. U20, the defender out of Creighton went to the Montreal Impact with the fifth pick. The Generation adidas signing played in 21 games his first year making 18 starts.
