T2 goalkeeper Kendall McIntosh was named to the USL Team of the Week for Week 18 after helping Portland to a 1-1 draw on the road against Reno 1868 FC at Greater Nevada Field on July 22.
McIntosh recorded a game-high seven saves, including back-to-back saves on Reno midfielder Junior Burgos in the 80th minute when came off his line to deny his shot from the six-yard box and then making a diving save to his right seconds later. The Santa Rosa, Calif., native leads the USL with 62 saves in 2017.
Additionally, Timbers Academy forward Gio Calixtro was named to the Team of the Week bench after recording his first professional goal in his first career start for T2. Midfielder Villyan Bijev struck a left-footed shot from outside the box that forced the Reno goalkeeper into a diving save, and the rebound fell to Calixtro, who slotted home from inside the six-yard box in the 83rd minute of the match. Calixtro, 17, became the youngest player in club history to record a goal for T2.
Next up, T2 return home to face Rio Grande Valley FC Toros at Providence Park on Saturday, July 29; kickoff is set for 8 p.m. (Pacific).
