Six Points from KC

Following the Portland Timbers 2-1 victory Saturday night over Sporting Kansas City at Providence Park, Thorns FC continued the Rose City’s dominance of the City of Fountains with their 1-0 win over KC NWSL Sunday, also at Providence Park.

It was the Thorns third straight victory.


Along with three straight wins, Portland goalkeeper Adrianna Franch and the Thorns defense earned their third clean sheet in a row. The shutout was Franch’s 26th with Portland, best in club history.


Forward Simone Charley’s first half goal was her second of the 2021 regular season. She is now tied with forwards Christine Sinclair and Sophia Smith for the regular-season team lead.

The Thorns have an NWSL-best nine different goalscorers in the current campaign.
