Timbers in Lone Star State, Thorns Back Home
Fresh from their big rivalry win over Seattle Sounders FC, The Portland Timbers continue their stretch of away games when they travel to Texas on Friday, Sept. 3 to play the Houston Dynamo at BBVA Stadium (5pm PT, FOX 12 PLUS).
Meanwhile, the Thorns return home on Saturday, Sept. 4 to host the Washington Spirit at Providence Park (7:30pm PT, TICKETS, FOX 12 PLUS). Remember, masks and proof of vaccinations are required for entry at Providence Park. Learn more about the latest park policies here.
Remembering the first trophy
Eight years ago this Aug. 31, the Thorns won the first-ever NWSL Championship defeating the Western New York Flash 2-0 in Rochester, New York in 2013. Tobin Heath and Christine Sinclair scored the goals that day as the team earned their first piece of hardware. Have a look back at that championship season here:
Stand Together Week nears
The 10th Annual Stand Together Week is set for September 5 – 11, 2021. Each year, the State of Oregon and City of Portland officially proclaim the week as the Portland Timbers & Thorns FC Stand Together Week.
With the help of partners Alaska Airlines, Coca-Cola, Daimler, Danner Boots, Safeway, Providence Sports Medicine, and Umpqua Bank, 20 volunteer projects benefiting organizations focused on youth, the environment, and social equity are offered across the Portland metro area.
