Three Portland Thorns FC players appeared in the Westfield W-League’s Week 11 action for their respective Australian club sides.

Ashleigh Sykes and Canberra United captured another three points in their Saturday 2-0 win over the Western Sydney Wanderers, moving into fifth place in the standings. Sykes was named to the starting lineup and put in 82 minutes before being subbed out for Madelyn Whittall. The 26-year-old striker created a chance and earned an assist in the match on a 77th minute goal by Elise Thorsnes.

Emily Sonnett’s Sydney FC also notched a 2-0 win over the weekend in a clash with Perth Glory at Dorrien Gardens. While Sonnett—away at U.S. Women's National Team January training camp—did not feature in the match, newly acquired forward Caitlin Foord earned the start and went a full 90 minutes in the match. Foord took three shots in the game, putting one on target and winning eight duels during her performance. With the win, the Sky Blues stand a mere two points back of league-leading Brisbane Roar.

Elsewhere, Britt Eckerstrom and the Newcastle Jets met up with Adelaide United for a Thursday night match, but were defeated by the visitors on a Katie Naughton goal, scored two minutes before the break. Eckerstrom earned the start between the posts, playing the length of the game and making two saves in the 2-1 loss. The Jets’ record now moves to 5-3-2 while they maintain a spot within the top three.
