NWSL Soccer Ball, 2016

PORTLAND, Ore. – Portland Thorns FC have acquired a natural first-round and fourth-round pick in the 2018 NWSL College Draft from the Orlando Pride in exchange for the rights to forward Rachel Hill, it was announced today.

“Immediately after drafting Rachel we were presented with a trade option, and with this in mind, we were able to draft a similar quality player in Tyler Lussi,” said Gavin Wilkinson, general manager and president of soccer for Thorns FC. “Acquiring Orlando’s 2018 first-round draft pick strengthens our position in the 2018 draft with additional assets and helps us continue to build our roster for the long term.”

Hill originally was selected by Thorns FC as the No. 14 overall pick from the University of Connecticut in the second round of the 2017 NWSL College Draft on Jan. 12.
